TRAF Request for Comments – Dispersal of Restricted Surplus
Last week we received a message from Kevin T. Williams, the Acting Vice Chair of the TRAF Board. This message was sent to all members of TRAF that had an email address on file. In order to reach as many members as possible (including those that do not have an email address with TRAF), we are posting this information here on our website.
From the email:
On behalf of the Board of the Teachers’ Retirement Allowances Fund, please find attached a Request for Comments regarding the disbursal of the restricted surplus that has accumulated in the Pension Adjustment Account over the past 10 years.
The amount of restricted surplus is $27,987,000. As described in the Request for Comments, the Board has received a joint recommendation from The Manitoba Teachers’ Society and the Retired Teachers’ Association of Manitoba; however, prior to making a final decision, the Board is seeking input from individual members and other interested stakeholders regarding the disbursal of the restricted surplus.
